Italy orders Meta to open WhatsApp to rival AI chatbots

Italy antitrust authority ordered Meta Platforms to suspend a policy blocking rival AI chatbots from WhatsApp during an ongoing competition probe. The watchdog said Meta AI integration could harm competition. Meta called the order flawed, warned of system strain, and said it plans to appeal, according to Reuters.
