Italy's Palermo airport closed as wildfires rage in Sicily

Italy's Palermo's international airport was shut down overnight after wildfires in the hills around the Sicilian city reached the airport perimeter and road closures made it unreachable. A video showed flames surrounding the runway. On Monday, temperatures in Palermo reached a record 47°C. Reportedly, 16 Italian cities were put on red alert by the government over blisteringly high heat.
