J&K women gain skills via carpet weaving, SHG programs

The Handicrafts Department opened a carpet-weaving training centre in Udhampur, enrolling 20 women who receive monthly stipends and diplomas. In Budgam, women are building livelihoods through Self-Help Groups under JKRLM, engaging in weaving, tailoring, and food processing. Both initiatives aim to preserve traditional crafts and boost rural women's economic independence.
