Jain woman seeks to embrace death by opting 'Santhara' in Gujarat

A Jain woman in Gujarat has decided to embrace death by opting Jainism's practice called 'Santhara'. The woman's son said, "When a person feels that no medicine is working to heal...disease and death is near, we do Santhara". In Jainism, Santhara is a religious practice of fasting until death with a belief that an individual's soul leaves the body wilfully.
