Jamaat-e-Islami promises 15,000 Bangladeshi Taka on polling day
The coalition led by radical Jamaat-e-Islami promised 15,000 Bangladeshi Taka to voters on the day of the country's first elections since the ouster of former PM Sheikh Hasina. It circulated pamphlets that stated if all members of a family vote for the party, their afterlife will be "free of sin", and this will grant them "salvation from grave punishment".
