Jamia Millia Islamia gets its 1st woman Vice-Chancellor in 99 years

Professor Najma Akhtar has been appointed as the Vice-Chancellor of Jamia Millia Islamia, making her the first woman to hold the charge 99 years after the inception of the educational institution. She is also the first lady Vice-Chancellor of any Central University in Delhi. Akhtar has held posts of Controller of Examination and Director Academic Programmes at Aligarh Muslim University.
