Jane Austen's parody of gothic novel goes to auction

A letter from Jane Austen to her niece Anna Lefroy, wherein the author parodies 1806 gothic novel 'Lady Maclairn, the Victim of Villany,' is set to be auctioned by her descendants. In the letter dated October 1812, Austen parodies the "melodramatic style" and cliches like the heroine's "relentless" tears as well as repetitions of plot and character.
