Japan loses contact with Akatsuki, only active Venus mission

Japan's Akatsuki probe, the only active mission on Venus, has lost contact, JAXA announced. Communication was lost after an operation in late April, and efforts to reestablish contact are ongoing. Despite this setback, Akatsuki has already exceeded its primary mission objectives, significantly enhancing our understanding of Venus.
