Japan parliament adopts resolution on ‘serious human rights situation’ in China

Japan's parliament adopted a resolution flagging "serious human rights situation" in China and surrounding regions days ahead of Beijing Winter Olympics. It expressed concerns over violation of religious freedom in Xinjiang, Tibet and Hong Kong. "Human rights issues cannot just be domestic issues...and are a rightful matter of concern for the international community," noted the resolution.
