Japan's most explosive supervolcano recharging after 7,300 years

Scientists at Kobe University have found that the magma system beneath Japan's most explosive volcano, Kikai Caldera, is slowly rebuilding, 7,300 years after its massive eruption. However, the seismic imaging showed that magma now present is newly injected and not the leftover. Researchers also noted a lava dome has been forming at the caldera’s centre over the past 3,900 years.
