Japan registered a record number of COVID-19 deaths on Tuesday with 236 fatalities in one day. It surpassed the previous high of 216 recorded on May 18 last year. So far, nearly 2,000 people have died in the country this month. However, the number of new infections saw a decline with over 15,000 cases being registered.
