Japan signs its biggest-ever military export deal with Australia

Japan signed its biggest-ever military export deal worth $7 billion with Australia on Saturday. Japan will provide Australia's navy with three frigates built in Japan from 2029 and will build eight more in Australia as part of the deal. Japan's military export ban, which was enacted in 1967 and tightened in 1976, was lifted in 2014 by then-PM Shinzo Abe.
