Japan weighs buying Iranian oil for 1st time in 7 years: Report

Iran has initiated talks to resume oil sales to Japan under a temporary 60-day US sanctions waiver, Reuters reported. However, prospective Japanese buyers are seeking a longer waiver and assurances about ship safety amid tensions in the Strait of Hormuz. Japan halted imports of Iranian oil in 2019 after the US tightened sanctions on Iran.
