Japanese use paintballs to fight crime

Japan uses orange-coloured paintballs, locally known as 'bohan yo kara boru', to prevent crimes like shoplifting and thefts. Found in police stations, commercial establishments, and local shops, the balls injure wrongdoers by exploding on contact, and also make them noticeable to the police in case they escape. These balls, however, are not available for regular sale.
