Japan's population decreased by 837,000 in the 12 months to October 2023. Although married couples have an average of 1.9 children, fewer are getting married. Number of women graduates outnumber men, resulting in fewer matches for many. One solution they're considering is opening doors to immigrants. Last June, the number of foreigners living in Japan hit 3.2 million.
