Javed Akhtar speaks on secularism, language and identity at JLF

Veteran lyricist Javed Akhtar opened discussions at Jaipur Literature Festival, speaking on secularism, language, and identity. He said secular values come from upbringing, not teaching, and warned against linking language with religion. Stressing that language belongs to people, not communities, Akhtar highlighted how linguistic politics once fuelled Partition, urging inclusive cultural thinking.
