Jeremiah Manele Elected as Prime Minister of the Solomon Islands

Lawmakers in the Solomon Islands have chosen Jeremiah Manele, a former Foreign Minister, as their new PM. Manele, who advocates for maintaining the country's friendly relations with China, received 31 votes during a secret ballot on Thursday. His competitor, Matthew Wale, a prominent opposition figure, garnered 18 out of 50 votes.
