J&K and Ladakh to become Union Territories from October 31

President Ram Nath Kovind on Friday gave assent to The Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act, 2019 which is aimed at bifurcation of Jammu and Kashmir into two Union Territories. J&K and Ladakh will officially become Union Territories from October 31. The Bill was passed in the Lok Sabha with 370-70 votes and in the Rajya Sabha with 125-61 votes.
