J&K was merged with India on this day

Maharaja Hari Singh had signed the Instrument of Accession on October 26, 1947 that made Jammu and Kashmir a part of the Dominion of India. The accession was done in return for military aid, before which Kashmir was a princely state. Two other rulers, the Nawab of Junagadh and the Nizam of Hyderabad, still hadn't merged with an independent India.
