In an honour to ex-PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the Narendra Modi government will renew the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) and name it after Vajpayee. The new scheme will be known as Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT). It will be a 10-year programme under which the govt will rejuvenate 500 cities and towns.
