JNU Vice-Chancellor M Jagadesh Kumar appointed as UGC Chairperson

Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) Vice-Chancellor M Jagadesh Kumar was on Friday appointed as the Chairperson of the University Grants Commission (UGC). The post fell vacant after Professor DP Singh announced his retirement in December 2021. Meanwhile, Kumar's five-year term as JNU Vice-Chancellor ended on January 26, but he was allowed to continue till his successor was chosen.
