Journalist Kappan, arrested on his way to report on Hathras rape, released after 2 years

Siddique Kappan, the journalist from Kerala who was arrested in October 2020 in UP, was released from a Lucknow prison on Thursday. Kappan was arrested while on his way to UP's Hathras to report on the alleged gangrape and murder of a 20-year-old Dalit woman. Kappan, who was charged under UAPA, called allegations against him "false", after being released.
