Journalist sentenced over meme on freedom of speech in Germany
A German court sentenced a journalist, David Bendels, to a suspended seven-month prison term for defaming Interior Minister Nancy Faeser through a satirical meme. Bendels had posted a picture of Faeser holding up a sign that read, "I hate freedom of speech." As Bendels had no prior criminal record, court suspended the sentence and placed him on two years' probation.
