Justice Joymalya Bagchi to be sworn in as SC judge on March 17

Justice Joymalya Bagchi of Calcutta High Court will take oath as Supreme Court judge on March 17, which will be administered by CJI Sanjiv Khanna. His appointment comes following the Supreme Court collegium's recommendation, and he will serve for over six years. With this elevation, Bagchi is set to become CJI in May 2031, succeeding Justice KV Viswanathan, PTI reported.
