JWST spots oldest star explosion ever known

JWST has spotted the earliest supernova ever found, erupting 730 million years after universe's birth. The gamma-ray burst, GRB250314A, recorded in March 2025, was first detected by French-Chinese SVOM mission. Eventually, JWST followed, recording an intense burst as the star reached its end, verifying it as supernova. JWST identified its host galaxy, GS 3073, with 0.46 nitrogen-to-oxygen ratio.
