K'taka cabinet approves Tulu as state's 2nd additional official language

The Karnataka Cabinet on Friday decided to recognise Tulu as the state's second additional language, fulfilling a long-standing demand. CM DK Shivakumar said that the language, spoken primarily in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts, carries the potential for educational and cultural growth. Tulu has a history of more than 2,000 years and is considered the fifth major Dravidian language.
