K'taka Congress MLA's niece takes ₹75,000 salary as medical officer despite not coming to duty

Karnataka government terminated the contract of Dr Ankita Yaragal, niece of Congress MLA Umesh Meti, after she was allegedly found drawing a ₹75,000 monthly salary as a government medical officer while pursuing an MD course. Reports said she had not attended the Namma Clinic in Bagalkot for three months, while her attendance remained intact. She was appointed in 2025.
