K'taka draft apartment Bill proposes 75% owner consent for redevelopment

CM DK Shivakumar-led Karnataka government has unveiled the proposed Karnataka Apartment (Ownership and Management) Bill, 2026. The draft law requires at least 75% consent from apartment owners for redevelopment. Owners who opt out must receive compensation of at least twice the market value of their property. Buildings over 30 years old must also undergo mandatory structural stability audits.
