K'taka groundwater use declines as conservation works take effect

Karnataka has reported a significant decline in groundwater usage in 2025, thanks to good rainfall and government-led water conservation projects. The 2025 Groundwater Assessment Report shows 11 taluks improving their groundwater status. Extraction has dropped to 66.5%, while recharge capacity reached 19.28 BCM. Officials urge continued efforts to sustain this positive trend.
