K'taka to make term insurance compulsory for all doctors, officers

The Karnataka government has made term insurance mandatory for doctors, officers and staff under the Medical Education Department, Minister Sharanprakash Rudrappa Patil said on Sunday. The move comes after the death of IAS Officer Mahantesh Bilagi in a road accident last month in which a technical oversight resulted in his family receiving nearly ₹50 lakh less than the entitled amount.
