Kamindu Mendis becomes fastest batter to score 1,000 Test runs since 1949

Sri Lanka batter Kamindu Mendis has become the fastest batter to score 1,000 Test runs since 1949. The 25-year-old took 13 innings to score 1,000 Test runs, the same number of innings taken by Sir Donald Bradman. England’s Herbert Sutcliffe and West Indies’ Everton de Courcy Weekes are the joint-fastest batters to reach 1,000 Test runs, taking 12 innings each.
