Before Dubai, Kannada actress Ranya tried smuggling gold from Africa, got duped of ₹2 cr

Before actually smuggling 127.87 kg of gold from Dubai, arrested Kannada actress Ranya Rao and her associate tried to source it from Africa. But they were cheated of ₹2 crore by a Ugandan agent, HT reported, citing officials familiar with ED's chargesheet. Upon no delivery, Rao's associate travelled to Kampala in January 2024, only to find they had been duped.
