Kansai International Airport in Japan is surrounded by water
The Kansai International Airport, which opened in 1994 in Osaka, Japan is built on a man-made island. Known to be one of the largest airport facilities in the world, the island measures about four-kilometre-long and one-kilometre-wide. It was constructed to relieve the overcrowding at other airports and is often referred to as one of the 'world's most dangerous airports'.
