Karan Johar starred in 1989 sci-fi serial on Doordarshan

Filmmaker Karan Johar made his acting debut in 1989 science-fiction television serial Indradhanush, which aired on Doordarshan. The serial, which was meant for children, starred Johar as a school boy while actress Urmila Matondkar and filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker featured in recurring roles. Johar, who turned 45 on Thursday, won the Filmfare Award for his directorial debut Kuch Kuch Hota Hai.
