Karnataka arecanut yield falls 37% despite more farms
Karnataka’s arecanut cultivation area has increased by over 32% in five years, but productivity has dropped nearly 37%, according to Central Government data. Production has also declined by 16% compared to 2021-22. Major growing districts, including Shivamogga, Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Uttara Kannada, have reported falling yields, raising concerns among farmers.
