Karnataka Assembly clears bill to curb honour killings

Karnataka Assembly on Monday passed the 'Karnataka Freedom of Choice in Marriage and Prevention and Prohibition of Crimes in the Name of Honour and Tradition Bill, 2026', aimed at curbing honour crimes and reinforcing constitutional values in society. Minister HK Patil said that the Bill would provide legal strength to protect couples and promote social harmony.
