Karnataka government bans carpooling by Ola and Uber

The Karnataka Transport Department on Friday imposed a ban on carpooling service offered by cab aggregators Ola and Uber. Transport Commissioner VP Eickery has said that carpooling is not permissible under the current provisions of the licences afforded to the aggregators, and action would be taken against Ola and Uber if they continue to feature the option.
