Karnataka govt removes restrictions on sandalwood farming: Report

The Karnataka Government has reportedly removed all restrictions on growing and marketing sandalwood in the state. "There is a huge demand...in national and international markets...this will encourage farmers," said Karnataka Health Minister K Sudhakar. To protect farmers from smugglers, the state will reportedly install a microchip in the trees to alert officials when someone tries to cut them.
