Karnataka HC cuts 78-year-old man’s one-year jail term to 1 day

The Karnataka High Court reduced a 78-year-old wheelchair-bound man's one-year jail sentence to one day in a 2012 fatal accident case. The court considered his age, health condition and the offer to pay ₹5 lakh compensation to the victim's family. It ruled that sending him to jail now would serve no meaningful purpose.
