Karnataka issues new rules for homestays to improve tourist experience

To improve the tourist experience, Karnataka's Tourism Department has introduced a Bed & Breakfast (B&B) category distinct from homestays under the Karnataka Homestay Registration Guidelines, 2025. Under the new rules, a homestay is a privately owned residence recognised as a non-commercial establishment. Under the B&B model, properties will be recognised as commercial establishments.
