Karnataka’s proposed fake news bill faces backlash

In late June, multiple reports suggested that a proposed legislation to regulate 'misinformation; and 'fake news' had been placed in front of Karnataka cabinet. According to Minister HK Patil, Bill was likely to be discussed. The provisions of Bill were criticised by digital rights groups, calling for its revision/withdrawal and public consultations. IFF also released the draft text to public.
