Karnataka's Lingayat leader HD Thammaiah quits BJP, joins Congress

Karnataka's Lingayat leader HD Thammaiah quit the BJP and joined Congress in the presence of KPCC President DK Shivakumar on Sunday. "I've been working in the BJP and fulfilled my responsibilities in various posts since 2007, but the current political developments have disappointed me," Thammaiah wrote in his resignation letter. The development comes ahead of the Assembly elections in Karnataka.
