The Kashmir Valley, which now has a cool Mediterranean-type climate, was a warm, humid "subtropical paradise" millions of years ago, according to a study by Indian scientists. For this, the researchers analysed fossil leaves using Climate Leaf Analysis Multivariate Program (CLAMP). They linked climate change to the tectonic uplift of the Pir Panjal Range, a sub-Himalayan Mountain range.
