Kashmiri women revive wetlands, bring back 1 lakh migratory birds

The 15-member Salim Ali Birdwatchers Network, Jammu and Kashmir’s first women-led birding network, has helped revive fragile local wetlands and restore safe habitats, bringing back one lakh migratory birds. They spends weekends removing trash, clearing clogged channels and monitoring water health. The initiative was conceived to create greater opportunities for women to take part in ornithology.
