Kathleen Hicks confirmed as US' 1st woman Deputy Defence Secretary

US Senate on Monday confirmed Kathleen Hicks as Deputy Defence Secretary, making her the first woman in America's history to hold the position. She would report to Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin, who's the first African-American to lead the Pentagon. Hicks, who led President Joe Biden's transition team at the Pentagon, was a deputy undersecretary of defence under the Obama administration.
