Katia Itzel García becomes 1st Mexican woman to referee men's FIFA WC match

Katia Itzel García officiated the Group F match between the Netherlands and Tunisia at the FIFA World Cup 2026 on Friday, becoming the first Mexican woman to referee a men's FIFA World Cup match. García wore a custom uniform in the colours of the Mexican flag during the match. The Netherlands defeated Tunisia 3-1 at Kansas City Stadium in US.
