Kenyan fossil hunter and conservationist Richard Leakey dies at 77
Kenyan conservationist and paleoanthropologist Richard Leakey died at the age of 77, announced Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta on Sunday. Leakey has been credited with the discovery of the Turkana Boy, the most complete fossil skeleton of a human ancestor ever found in 1984. Leakey also spearheaded campaigns against the ivory trade to save the dwindling African elephant population.
