Kerala govt's PR Department bans use of words Dalit, Harijan

The Kerala government's Public Relations Department has banned use of the words 'Dalit' and 'Harijan' in government publications, official communications of the government, and publicity materials, recommending the use of the words SC and ST instead. The move, recommended by the state SC/ST Commission, was reportedly aimed at ending social discrimination at various levels in society.
