Centre can invoke Patents Act to provide affordable medicines: Kerala HC

Kerala High Court ruled the Central government can invoke Section 100 of the Patents Act to manufacture patented medicines for needy patients on a non-commercial basis. The court, however, left the final call to the Centre, saying adequate data must first be collected to assess affordability. The case arose from a breast cancer patient's petition over Ribociclib's high cost.
