Keralamite sounds like microbe: Tharoor on likely renaming of Kerala as Keralam

Reacting to a report that Union Cabinet is considering approving renaming of Kerala as "Keralam", Congress MP Shashi Tharoor said, "All to the good, no doubt, but a small linguistic question for Anglophones among us: what happens now to...terms 'Keralite' and 'Keralan' for...denizens of new 'Keralam'?" he added. "Keralamite sounds like a microbe and Keralamian like...rare earth mineral," he said.
